Speaking with IGN, the directors of the film said the Mega Man film project was still in the works and to expect news on it soon. “We’re super excited about it. I think we’re gonna have some big news about it soon. I can’t say all that much right now, but it’s a project very near and dear to our hearts and we’re psyched," said co-director Henry Joost. Capcom announced Mega Man would be adapted into a live-action film back in 2018 and is to be distributed by 20th Century Fox. Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman (Nerve, Viral), founders of the New York City production company Supermarche, are set to both write and direct the film. Chernin Entertainment, responsible for the Planet of the Apes films and television series such as New Girl, will produce the film with Masi Oka (Heroes, The Meg). News of the franchise being developed for the big screen first surfaced in 2017. Mega Man 11, the latest game title in the series, was released in October 2018. Thanks, Nintendo Everything.
