Most of the new weapons and gear in Borderlands 3 drops randomly, though the likes of the Plus Ultra and Faulty Star shields drop at high Mayhem levels after boss fights. One such weapon is the Hyperion shotgun Convergence, which players are touting as one of the best shotguns currently in-game. It does a wild amount of damage with stacking, has pretty decent accuracy and handling and a surprisingly fast reload time of under two seconds in most rolls. It also comes with weapon damage, melee damage and reload speed boost, and on action skill end, deals bonus radiation damage for a short time. It also has a special ability where each projectile fired will split into three smaller pellets that will converge - as the name suggests - at the target. This means if you rolled with the likes of x6 damage stack, you’d be firing 18 pellets per shot, so you can see how the damage stacks up. It’s a Mayhem Level 10 weapon so if it or the likes of the Blood-Starved Beast haven’t dropped for you, that’s probably why. So, get yourself up to Mayhem Level 10 and let’s get cracking.
Borderlands 3 - How to get the Convergence Shotgun
Now that you’re ready to go, you’ll want to progress through the Psycho Krieg and the Fantastic Fustercluck main campaign until you reach Dr Benedict. He’s one of the most challenging bosses in the DLC and you’ll need to bring down his shield pretty quickly if you want to deal any real damage.
Ads will quickly spawn so take care of those as fast as you can so that you can focus on Dr Benedict. He’ll have invincible phases, so don’t bother attacking him when his shield is the orangey-red colour. You’ll also want to move in the opposite direction of his blue laser and poison, too, as it can one-shot you. So far, defeating Dr Benedict seems to be the most reliable way of obtaining Convergence. He has around a 10% drop rate, so keep farming him until you get it.
