Microsoft Flight Simulator, the first new entry into the venerable series in eight years, arrives this week on PC. The new game brings Flight Sim into the modern era, with unparalleled visual fidelity and accessible gameplay for casual players. Microsoft Flight Simulator’s exceptional world graphical detail is achieved through a combination of satellite images and photogrammetric scans of the real world. As you approach every bit of terrain, an algorithm uses all of this data to stream in higher-quality models of the world beneath you. This makes for a very believable recreation of our world without hogging everyone’s hard drive with terabytes of data. Microsoft Flight Simulator is already a big enough game with a 150GB of space requirement, but the details on display here would require an even larger space. Like its predecessors, the new game will also supports various add-ons through an in-game marketplace. For those new to the series, many of the simulation options could be turn down or off for a practically arcade feel. Read on below to see whether the new Microsoft Flight Simulator is worthy of the name in our reviews round-up.
