We won’t have to wait too long to get more Xbox news. Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, has said that the next big Xbox event “should” take place in August. Spencer revealed the news in an interview with iJustine, where he reiterated Xbox’s commitment to existing players and their game libraries. “I am encouraged to be able to talk more about [Microsoft’s Xbox plans]… should be August. I think August we’ll have more to say,” he said....

Tyler “Ninja” Blevins livestreamed on Twitch overnight, pulling in over 100,000 concurrent viewers at one point. Though some took this to mean that Ninja has returned to his former home on Twitch, this may not actually be the case. Just like Ninja hosted an impromptu livestream on Youtube in July, last night’s Twitch stream was similarly a way to test the waters. As many have already noticed, the “subscribe” button wasn’t available on Ninja’s stream, meaning he’s not yet a Twitch affiliate/partner....

That’s according to the platform holder’s earnings report for the three months ending September 30 – as spotted by Gematsu – which shows that Nintendo managed to shift an impressive 6.86 million consoles and 49.81 million games during the summer. These strong sales have been helped out by some serious heavy-hitters in the company’s roster; Super Mario 3D All-Stars has managed to sell 5.21 million units since launch – just 12 days before the end of September – while Animal Crossing: New Horizons has racked up 14....

Team Ninja has today released a new update for Nioh 2 on PC. Though update 1.27.1 doesn’t bring any big new features, it’s one PC players have been eagerly anticipating, simply because patch 1.27 broke the game for many. In particular, 1.27 introduced a weird bug that would sometimes cause text to disappear from the game’s menus, making it awkward to navigate. The update also brought on a number of random crashes, which caused Team Ninja to issue a statement saying that it’s indeed looking into those reports....

It’s the new entry-level card, sitting just below the 3060 Ti, which we reviewed last year. The only one of the ‘big three’ to show up, Xbox had ‘won’ the Gamescom hardware manufacturer competition before the show had even begun. But even then, I looked upon its line-up for the show with my brow furrowed. Is this it? This is a paltry offering. Not even a crumb of Starfield? But now I must hold my hands up. Mea culpa – I was wrong. It was a great line-up – for what it was....

Ori developer Moon Studios wanted to make another Ori adventure, but the studio also didn’t want to undo the conclusion of the original game. The result was a lot of thinking and iteration at the top of development - to find a way out of the narrative and even system design corners that the conclusion of the hugely successful first game had backed the developers into. That certainly sounds like a difficult process, but it also appears to have created something of a gem....

If you can ignore the on-going, all-consuming its sexual harrassment and discrimination lawsuit against Activision Blizzard at the moment, you may be excited to learn that Sombra is getting some changes when the next game launches. In a new video posted to Overwatch’s official YouTube channel, game director Aaron Keller and lead dero designer Geoff Goodman gave detailed insight into Sombra’s suite of abilities for the next game. First up, her hack has been reworked: it now takes between three and four seconds of cooldown before you can use it again, making it more deployable in engagements with enemy teams....

This is despite the fact that it’s a huge narrowing of scope for Josh Sawyer, the director of such beloved and vast role-playing games as Fallout: New Vegas and Pillars of Eternity....

The remaster of Demon’s Souls from Bluepoint and Sony Japan is also out on day one, as is Sackboy: A Big Adventure from Sumo and Destruction All Stars from Lucid Games, both of which are produced with support from Sony’s XDEV teams. Topping those off is Astro’s playroom, which comes pre-loaded on the PlayStation 5. We also know that Capcom’s Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition is available digitally on day one....

Last week, Sony accidentally posted what’s coming to PlayStation Plus in August a bit too early. Now, the company has revealed the games officially, and not much has changed. Games included in the line-up are Hunter’s Arena: Legends, Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville, and Tennis World Tour 2. Already out on PC, Hunter’s Arena: Legends is a 30-player battle royale game, and it was previously announced as a day-one release on PlayStation Plus for August, for both PS4 and PS5....

As was leaked earlier this week, the games are Overcooked: All You Can Eat, Predator: Hunting Grounds, and Hitman 2. All You Can Eat contains both Overcooked, Overcooked 2, and all additional content together in one package and remastered for what’s being called the definitive edition. In the game, you can enjoy campaign, survival and practice modes, and the new assist mode. In the asymmetrical multiplayer shooter Predator: Hunting Grounds, you will be pitted against Predator....

Launching first in Asia today, PlayStation Stars is free to join for those who have a PlayStation Network account. While you will earn certain benefits for being a PlayStation Plus member, a PlayStation Plus membership is not required to join the program. The program will be accessible through the PlayStation App on iOS and Android and can be accessed online. Sony has plans to expand the program to console devices in the future....

The concept behind Pokemon remakes, as established by the first couple back in 2004, is to modernize older Pokemon titles up to the standards of the ‘current’ generation. So FireRed and LeafGreen shared a visual look and feature set with the GBA-era Pokemon games, while HeartGold and SoulSilver did the same for the DS era. Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl break with that tradition, to an extent. Rather than being new versions of Diamond and Pearl that are designed to match up to the style and presentation of Pokemon Sword & Shield, it’s a more workmanlike, simplistic remake....

Niantic Labs has announced the dates for Pokemon Go Fest 2020, alongside news that it will be a virtual global event. The event will take place July 25-26, and it will allow players to participate no matter where they play. Ticket holders will also be able to attend both days of the event, a first for the annual event. “While we’ll miss the traditional congregation of Pokemon Go fans, we’re thrilled to bring a special Pokemon Go Fest experience to Trainers,” reads the announcement....

Additionally, French, German, Italian, and Spanish language support will also be available in-game starting tomorrow across both the mobile and Nintendo Switch versions via a free downloadable update. Trainers can also look forward to an all-new battle pass arriving soon. By linking with a Nintendo Account or Pokemon Trainer Club account, Trainers will be able to access the same Pokemon Unite account on both Switch and mobile devices. In celebration of the mobile release and the surpassing of five million pre-registrations, every Trainer who completes the in-game event in the mobile version by Sunday, October 31, 2021 will receive the following pre-registration campaign rewards: 1,000 Aeos tickets, the Unite license for Pikachu, and special Holowear for Pikachu called Festival Style....

That’s according to VGC, which reports that the firm – CustomizeMyPlates.com, previously PlateStation5.com – has had to cancel orders to consumers and pull all of its products from sale following threats from Sony to take it to court. The company came under fire from the PlayStation maker for the similarities between its original name and Sony’s console. It even went as far as to rebrand, but that doesn’t seem to be enough to keep the platform holder happy....

Earlier this week, Sony’s CES conference introduced us to some unexpected information thanks to a sizzle reel that included footage from a number of upcoming PS5 games with release dates tacked onto the end of the trailer. Amongst the information listed, we saw dates for Capcom’s Pragmata (pushed back to 2023), Square Enix’s Project Athia (listed as January 2022), cat-based indie game, Stray (October 2021), Kena: Bridge of Spirits (March 2021), Solar Ash (June 2021), Little Devil Inside (July 2021) and Ghostwire Tokyo (October 2021)....
