The arcade-inspired action-adventure games mark the debut of the Tomb Raider franchise on the console. Both titles focus on exploration, discovery, platforming, and puzzle-solving, with co-operative multiplayer, character progression, and combat. Released in 2010 digitally, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light landed on Xbox Live Arcade in August, followed by a September release on PC and PlayStation Network. It made its way to iOS in December. The game received five batches of DLC featuring new maps, puzzles, different playable characters, and more....

Infinity Ward broke down the patch - which clocks in at a whopping 15 GB - in an official blog post, documenting all of the changes that come with this new Modern Warfare data pack download. The patch notes detail a range of playlist updates set to come into effect as soon as you install it. According to the developer, it is “so excited for Horizon Forbidden West” from Guerrilla Games, that it added an"Aloy-inspired surprise". In order to acquire it, you will need to solve a puzzle at the newly repaired Wind Shrine to the north of Iki Island. The patch also includes bug fixes and item adjustments for Ghost of Tsushima: Legends. A Block button has also been added to the Social tab in the pause menu....

Ubisoft never officially announced the Prince of Persia project in question, or event hint that the series is making a comeback. But, according to the resume of at least one former Ubisoft developer, the publisher was indeed working on a Prince of Persia project between 2010-2011. The LinkedIn page for Christophe Prelot, a former level artist at Ubisoft Montreal, has the project listed, though not its full title. A video showing gameplay footage was uploaded to YouTube all the way back in 2012....

To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the stylish title, former CEO of Kadokawa Games, Yoshimi Yasuda, shared an official statement revealing that a remake of Lollipop Chainsaw is in development at his new studio, Dragami Games. Lollipop Chainsaw sold over a million units worldwide upon release, and upon reading Yasuda’s statement, it becomes clear that there are many players who have an affinity towards this game, as well as many others who have been unable to play it....

After being rewarded the Partner Award for Persona 5 Royal during the PlayStation Awards 2020 Japan Asia awards that took place today, the development studio behind the Persona game – the aptly named P Studio within Atlus – mentioned that we might just hear more news about the series next year. As reported over at GameSpot, a job ad for a producer role at the Weta Workshop gaming division has cropped up online, and as per the text in the ad, the studio is currently working on a game drawing from “an incredibly rich and inspiring license.” “We’re looking for a Producer to help us develop cutting edge games,” says the Weta Workshop ad. “Our next PC release is an incredibly rich and inspiring license that will fill fans and players around the world with delight....

Take-Two published its earnings overnight for Q3 of FY2020. In a call with investors following the report, the publisher gave a little bit of an update on progress being made by its various studios. Hangar 13, the team behind Mafia 3, has been quietly working on a new project. As for what it is, Take-Two president Karl Slatoff wouldn’t say, but he did confirm that we’ll be hearing more about it “in the coming months....

Earlier this month, a report detailed that Hangar 13 is working on a new Mafia game, this time a prequel, and that multiple big departures had taken place at the company. Studio head Haden Blackman was one of them, alongside chief operating officer Matthew Urban. Now, after already having received two sets of layoffs in 2017 and 2018, the studio has gone through further layoffs, as reported by Kotaku. According to the report, layoffs have occurred at all three sites across the world, with almost 50 losing their jobs at Hangar 13’s Novato, California office....

Marvel’s Avengers upset fans last week with the news that Spider-Man is exclusive to PlayStation, leaving out roughly two-thirds of the player base. It now appears publisher Square Enix inked other, smaller deals for bits of exclusive content with various other companies, including non-gaming ones. The different cross-promotion deals - for now at least - offer entirely cosmetic items. Things like skins, re-colours, and in one case, bubble gums. Verizon and Virgin customers can look forward to a pack of in-game skins....

Speaking with GI.biz, Sony says it has identified the individuals responsible The Last of Us: Part 2 leaks from earlier in the week. The leaks did not come from Naughty Dog or Sony Interactive Entertainment or Naughty Dog as the rumor claimed. Sony declined further comment due to an ongoing investigation into the matter. This is nothing new, of course: BPM: Bullets Per Minute, Crypt of the Necrodancer, Cadence of Hyrule, and Before the Echo have been popularisiing the genre somewhat over the last few years – giving those of us who like to bob our heads and nod in time to indiscriminate video game murder plenty to chew on. But few games do it all as well as Metal: Hellsinger. Even if you don’t like metal, there’s value here....

Thanks to videos like the one embedded below, we can see exactly how far we’ve come in terms of visual fidelity and graphical quality in general. Whole new assets, totally recreated and faithfully recreated as per the original game go a long way in bringing the classic back to life. The word remaster gets thrown around a lot. On one hand, it’s used in marketing for games when they’ve gotten a fresh coat of paint, but little else....

The Initiative, Microsoft’s first-party AAA studio the company revealed to the world at E3 2018 has been quiet ever since that moment. The main reason for the lack of news, of course, is that the studio is currently still staffing up for its first project. Recently, the team added yet another industry veteran. As spotted by Klobrille on Twitter, Lee Davis, Naughty Dog’s former head of melee animation is now The Initiative’s lead gameplay animator....

In a post on Xbox Wire, Xbox boss Phil Spencer officially welcomed Zenimax Media, which houses Bethesda Game Studios, id Software, ZeniMax Online Studios, Arkane, MachineGames, Tango Gameworks, Alpha Dog, and Roundhouse Studios. Spencer called it the “next step in building an industry-leading first-party studios team,” and noted it is “vitally important” that Bethesda continues to make games “the way it always has.” That said, he did reiterate that with the addition of the Bethesda teams, gamers should know that Xbox consoles, PC, and Game Pass will be the best place to experience new Bethesda games, including “some new titles in the future that will be exclusive to Xbox and PC players....

Currently available to Xbox Insiders in Alpha Skip Ahead and Alpha, the feature being tested is one that would no longer require an Xbox Live Gold account in order to play multiplayer in free-to-play games. Microsoft said it is aware that titles do not currently support the Free-to-Play multiplayer testing currently available in Preview. It is currently working with studios as the titles require an update to support this service change....

As you’d expect, the patch adding all that also brought a few changes and balance tweaks to go along with them, making it the first balance pass since launch. The good news starts with the game’s hated UI. It’s not been entirely overhauled, but you’ll notice various tweaks to readability and speed. The camo screen does a slightly better job at showing unlocked camos. Combat Record has arrived, tracking core multiplayer stats, and the calling card menu has been redesigned to show the challenges required to unlock each one....

Coming up to a decade ago now, Moon Studios released its first title, Ori and the Blind forest, a Metroidvania that was instantly well received by critics and fans, going on to release a sequel in 2020, Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Earlier this week, Moon Studios creative director Thomas Mahler touched on the developer’s next game, an action RPG, where he compared Ori to Mario, and the next title to Zelda....
